On Thursday, Gitanas Nausėda received letters of credence from Ambassador Alan Lazaro Deniega of the Republic of the Philippines, Ambassador Navaan-Yunden Oyundari of Mongolia and Ambassador Vladimir Adolfo Franco Sousa of the Republic of Panama.
During his meeting with the Ambassador of the Philippines, the President highlighted the strong stance of the Philippines in defending the rules-based international order. The Head of State underlined an ambition to strengthen political dialogue and develop mutually beneficial economic cooperation. According to Gitanas Nausėda, Lithuania is ready to actively expand partnerships in high value-added sectors such as space technology, information and communication technology, cybersecurity, lasers, and energy. The President also noted that Lithuania seeks to accede to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) and hopes to formalize this decision at the EU-ASEAN Ministerial Meeting to be held in Manila on 24 July.
In his meeting with the Ambassador of Mongolia, the President noted that this year marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Mongolia, which presents an excellent opportunity to strengthen cultural ties and people-to-people contacts. The Head of State highlighted the ambition to expand economic cooperation and pointed to Lithuania's experience in cybersecurity, renewable energy, and financial technologies. The President also called for accelerating the conclusion of bilateral agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and on air transport. He further emphasized the need to uphold the principles of the United Nations Charter and to support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
During the meeting with the Ambassador of Panama, the President discussed the development of bilateral relations and noted that rapidly growing trade between the two countries still has potential for further expansion. He emphasized Lithuania's strengths as a regional leader in information technology and digital innovation. Cooperation between the two countries in international organizations was also discussed. Gitanas Nausėda thanked Panama for its principled position in supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and stressed the importance of ensuring Russia's accountability for violations of international law.
