The interest rate margin on the sustainability-linked loan is linked to Elisa's climate targets and the development of access to highspeed connections.
Elisa and NIB have agreed targets that cover Scopes 1 & 2 and selected Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The climate-related KPIs have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for the 1.5 °C alignment pathway in accordance with the Paris Agreement. The other KPI measures the decrease in the population without highspeed connections. This is the second SLL from NIB to Elisa. Compared with the previous one, this loan includes an extended period of KPI measurements.
Kristian Pullola, CFO, Elisa said: "The new, more extensive loan is a continuation of our sustainability-linked financing arrangements and further deepens our cooperation with the Nordic Investment Bank. We are committed to sustainable business and achieving net zero emissions by 2040. With NIB's support, we are promoting regional equality in access to high-speed connections and accelerating the significant reduction of our greenhouse gas emissions, both in our own operations and within our supply chain."
André Küüsvek, NIB President and CEO says: "By linking financing to ambitious goals, Elisa reinforces its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The loan also supports investments to deliver reliable and resilient connections in locations, where high-speed access is still limited. The loan builds on our previous sustainability-linked loan to Elisa, and we are pleased to continue our cooperation."
