MONCKS CORNER, S.C. - Early this morning, repairs were completed to the damaged main water line from Lake Moultrie Regional Water System serving Goose Creek, Summerville and portions of Berkeley County.

Required water sample testing is underway to ensure no harmful bacteria are present. Due to the testing requirements, the results would be available 48 hours after the repair, which would be Friday morning. Santee Cooper will promptly communicate results to water agencies for the City of Goose Creek, Summerville Commissioners of Public Works and Berkeley County. The results are expected to be known by early Friday morning. If the results meet state requirements, the applicable boil water advisories may be lifted at that time.

"This was a significant break and a significant repair," said Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer Mike Finissi. "We took measures throughout to minimize the potential for contaminants in the water, and now we are conducting the state-required testing to confirm the water is safe for consumption."

On Monday, a contractor not working for Santee Cooper damaged the main water line while operating heavy equipment. The repair process included dewatering the pipe and removing and replacing the damaged section.
