Rogue River School District Implementing Panic Button Technology

This is a third-party release from the Rogue River School District

Schools across district deploying Motorola Solutions' technology to help keep students and staff safer

Rogue River, Oregon -- September 15, 2025 - Rogue River School District is implementing Motorola Solutions' (NYSE: MSI) SentryERS emergency response system across its school campuses to help keep students and staff safer. With the push of a button, the SentryERS works as a panic button, initiating a lockdown and other security protocols while quickly alerting first responders to the emergency.

"The safety and security of students and staff is our administration's top priority," said Tom Bigboy, chief information officer of Southern Oregon Education Service District. "Integrating SentryERS isn't just about enhancing security measures, it's about providing our staff with the tools they need during any type of emergency, whether it's a medical incident, fight on the playground or a potentially violent individual. We're not just investing in technology; we're investing in peace of mind and demonstrating our commitment to being at the forefront of school safety."

The SentryERS system is commonly placed on a wall inside a classroom. The system is activated through the push of a button, the detection of a gunshot or spoken keywords such as 'help' or 'emergency.' The system only provides first responders with live location data, video and audio communication when it is activated, protecting privacy when the system is in its non-activation status. Teachers and staff also have access to a wearable panic button, which can notify first responders of an emergency, including the user's location to help shorten response times.

The integration of the SentryERS system brings Rogue River into alignment with Alyssa's Law, signed in Oregon in May 2025. The legislation requires school districts to consider implementing panic alarm systems that connect directly to law enforcement agencies.

"With the signing of Alyssa's Law in Oregon, districts like Rogue River are setting a new standard for school safety," said Ryan Schroeder, MSSSI vice president of Access Control and Sensors, Motorola Solutions. "We are committed to helping schools meet and exceed these new requirements. The SentryERS system provides a direct link to law enforcement, so that when an emergency happens, help is on the way as quickly as possible. This isn't just about compliance; it's about providing the best possible protection for our children and educators."
