DCHA Residents Enjoy a Community Block Party at Benning Terrace

DC Housing Authority (DCHA) continued its community day celebrations on Saturday, Aug. 8 at Benning Terrace.
Approximately 250 residents, families and friends from the neighborhood enjoyed bounce houses, a water slide, foam bubbles, various games, face painting, food, live music and more. Children in attendance were thrilled to see Woody from the Toy Story movies at the party. Attendees were able to connect and enjoy the day together, further strengthening community bonds.
DCHA staff and volunteers distributed free groceries to residents before the block party.
Service providers connected the attendees with resources regarding education, workforce development, job opportunities, healthcare and more. Providers included local nonprofits, academic institutions, private employers and DC government agencies.
DCHA's Rebuilding Our Communities initiative focuses on community building and providing access to helpful resources. DCHA will host additional events in this series at other public housing communities in the coming months.
