With the limited-edition holiday collection, ZANKOV applies its distinct approach to color and ease to Banana Republic's heritage of quality-made pieces
Banana Republic announces a limited-edition capsule with ZANKOV, the New York-based label founded by Henry Zankov and recognized for artfully mixing color, pattern and texture. Launching October 20, the 27-piece collection reflects both brands' uncompromising approach to craft and detail, offering a wardrobe of unexpected pieces that will stay with you for years.
The Banana Republic and ZANKOV collection was crafted in premium fabrications such as brushed-cashmere, proprietary wool yarns, premium leathers, and engineered plaids. Spanning menswear, womenswear and accessories, the assortment is designed with relaxed proportions and universal sizing to mix and match. The pieces are designed to work together as one wardrobe, allowing traditional menswear and womenswear codes to be styled together.
"This collaboration with Banana Republic is really an exploration of the visual language I've developed through my work, brought together with the brand's rich sense of craft and heritage. The pieces were created with a spirit of playfulness, but with an enduring, timeless quality. I wanted each garment to feel beautiful in the hand-to have that tactile, almost instinctive appeal-and to feel like something you could live with, love, and eventually pass down as an heirloom," said Henry Zankov, Founder of ZANKOV.
A hero in the collection, the Auden sweater, features brushed-cashmere in vivid stripes and solid colors, inspired by vintage sportswear. The collection's emphasis on brushed-cashmere carries on to the Sasha, a cardigan in navy and pistachio stripes, and the Frankie, a classic long-sleeve polo, slightly subverted with a pop of malachite green on the placket. The more overt femininity in the collection can be seen in a grey tank-top, cardigan and pencil skirt set with blue wisteria piping in tissue brushed ribbed cashmere.
In designing the collection, Zankov explored the Banana Republic archives, selecting pieces to reinterpret with his own signature elements including unexpected color and patchwork construction. The Helene, a paneled leather and suede pencil skirt, was inspired by a 1986 style with similar construction. With the addition of a ZANKOV signature stripe detail at the interior cuff, the Mateo, a deep burgundy leather bomber jacket, modernizes an archival reference.
The attention to craftsmanship is further evidenced by the Lucien Fair Isle jacquard sweater, which was created using a proprietary wool yarn. The Lev reimagines a 1950s car coat in Italian wool produced in Prato, Tuscany, finished with a leather collar and a voluminous silhouette.
The collection also extends into accessories with reversible brushed-cashmere hats, colorful cashmere socks, and scarves. Across the assortment, saturated blue accents and multicolor stripes bring ZANKOV's expressive sensibility to Banana Republic's refined approach to timeless dressing.
"From the beginning, we saw an opportunity to reinterpret Banana Republic's codes through ZANKOV's approach to color and texture. We brought together two distinct points of view, grounded in heritage, craftsmanship and creativity," said Meena Anvary, Chief Marketing Officer, Banana Republic. "The collection represents our shared appreciation of quality made pieces, with a bit of the unexpected, designed to be lived in and loved for years to come."
To launch the collaboration, Banana Republic and ZANKOV developed an expressive campaign titled, "Future Heirlooms." Through video and still photography, the campaign articulates the inspiration of the collection, eliciting a feeling of coziness and joy while paying homage to one's own history. The photography by Andrew Jacobs is juxtaposed against works by the Belgian artist, Katrien de Blauwer, commissioned for the project to evoke emotion through color. The anthem video features Zankov's voice as he speaks to the tactile and nostalgic references, such as leather softened by a long journey and the feeling of cashmere on the skin, that inspired the collection.
The Banana Republic and ZANKOV collection will be available beginning October 20, 2026, with exclusive early access for Encore loyalty members on October 19. The collection includes 27 styles priced from $90 to $600 USD and will be available at select Banana Republic stores and online at BananaRepublic.com.
