20 May 2026

The Observatory participated in the "Hong Kong Island Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Day" and "New Territories North Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Day", organized by the Fire Services Department on 10 and 17 May respectively. The events aimed to enhance the public's awareness of disaster prevention and emergency preparedness capabilities.

During the events, the Observatory set up exhibitions and a game booth, and showcased a radiological survey vehicle to promote knowledge of radiation and nuclear emergency response to the public. Various radiation and meteorological monitoring instruments on the radiological survey vehicle as well as the Observatory's work on collection of environmental samples and radiation measurement across Hong Kong were also introduced to the public. The Observatory's booth and radiological survey vehicle attracted around 3000 visitors.
