Aria Hotels Announces Aria Santa Maria, First Property in the Dominican Republic

[May 6, 2025] - Aria Hotels, the Greek-born hospitality subsidiary of Libra Group, has further expanded its global presence with the addition of Aria Santa Maria, an exclusive boutique hotel in the Dominican Republic.

Aria Santa Maria is a nine-room historic property located in Santo Domingo's Colonial Zone, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture.

Built between 1515 and 1523, Aria Santa Maria's two-story structure is a testament to Santo Domingo's rich history and architectural heritage. The original design was crafted by Luis de Moya, the master architect behind the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor-the oldest cathedral in the Americas. In the 18th century, the second floor was added using rubble salvaged from the 1615 earthquake, adding yet another layer to the building's storied past. With a deep respect for historical preservation, Aria Hotels will thoughtfully restore the property, blending refined hospitality with modern comforts and cultural authenticity.

Adding to the cultural experience, Aria Santa Maria will introduce the first Greek restaurant of its kind in Santo Domingo, located on the ground floor of the hotel, offering guests and locals the opportunity to savor the flavors of Greece.
