The International Cooperation for Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) Steering Committee is pleased to announce that it has endorsed the guidance document on 'Analytical Methods for Feed Ingredients'.
In March 2022, an Expert Working Group composed of dedicated regulatory authority and industry experts from the founding ICCF members was created to develop a guidance document providing recommendations for the development and submission of Analytical Methods supporting the evaluation of feed ingredients. Analytical measurements of constituent entities and their metabolites, and microorganisms are required in various studies to evaluate the safety, identity and effectiveness of feed ingredients. To support these measurements and ensure accurate results, analytical methods are necessary, and these should be validated and, under certain conditions, verified. The document provides indications of the quality parameters of those methods of analysis and the recommendations for their validation and potential verification. This guidance document is to be used in connection with other ICCF guidance documents.
The guidance document builds on existing international guidance documents and on the expertise and experience from a panel of experts drawn from the ICCF founding members.

About ICCF
The International Cooperation for the Convergence of Technical requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) was created in 2017. It was founded by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC), the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), the European Commission (DG SANTE)1 and the EU Association of Specialty Feed Ingredients and their Mixtures (FEFANA), and the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF). The ICCF aims at developing science-based technical guidance documents supporting the feed industry in assessing their products and to aid in the preparation of pre-market assessment submissions.
