To encourage community interest in local environmental issues and provide broader input, the City of Erie Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) is now seeking associate, non-voting members. Associate members may include:
• Local City of Erie high school students
• Students from the local colleges or universities
• Environmental experts (may or may not be City of Erie residents)
The Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), a City of Erie board created to recommend solutions to environmental issues, is now in its second year of operation. Currently, the EAC's top priority is the creation of a Local Climate Action Plan (LCAP), and its secondary priorities are single use plastics and litter mitigation.
As associate members, local high school and college students will have the opportunity to explore environmental issues of concern in our community and provide valuable feedback to the EAC. In addition, the environmentalist experts who serve as associate members will provide expertise and share information with the EAC to guide the council in their recommendations.
Any interested applicant for associate membership is welcome to email the EAC describing their background, reasons for becoming a member, and their agreement to at least a one-year commitment to attend monthly EAC meetings. The EAC meetings are on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 3:00 PM.
Applicants may email City of Erie EAC staff liaison Jackie Spry, Director of Neighborhood Planning and Resources, [email protected].
The public is welcome to attend an EAC meeting at City Hall on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 3:00 PM. To learn more, please visit the EAC web page at: http://cityof.erie.pa.us/…/environmental-advisory…/
