Dr. Kenneth Romer was appointed to the Board of the International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE).
WARSAW, Poland - The Bahamas has once again carved out its place in international aviation history, through the historic appointment of Director of Aviation and Deputy Director General of Tourism, Dr. Kenneth Romer, to the Board of the International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE).
"I want to congratulate Dr. Kenneth Romer on his appointment to the Board of the International Association of Airport Executives. As the first Bahamian, and the first from the Caribbean region to serve in this role, this is a proud moment for our nation", said the Hon. Philip Davis, Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
The official announcement and welcome came during the North America/Central Europe Airport Conference, held October 19-21, 2025 in Warsaw, Poland.
"This is a powerful testament that our small island nation is highly regarded and widely respected within the global aviation community and our voice is amplifying around the boardroom table, as the world continues to mark the manner of our being," said Dr. Romer.
The IAAE comprises over 12,000 members, representing over 900 airports and related agencies across 65 countries and regions including, North America, Canada, United Kingdom, European Union, Asia, Europe, The Middle East, Latin/South/Central America, Australia, India, Africa, The Caribbean and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.
"Dr Romer's extensive experience and leadership in the aviation industry makes him an invaluable addition to the Board. We are confident that his insights and contributions will further strengthen IAAE's mission to advance global airport management excellence through collaboration, education, and professional development," said Heba Gouda, Vice-President, Global Operations, American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
