La Plata County has created a comprehensive flood information and updates page at www.lpcgov.org/flood. It includes road closures, evacuation updates, news releases, health and safety information, temporary housing assistance, and other important updates. Residents should check this page for the latest incident information.
All evacuation orders remain in effect. The Durango emergency shelter at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Avenue, remains open, with support from the Red Cross and meals provided by Manna. Ignacio High School also remains open as an emergency shelter. The Bayfield High School shelter has closed.
Voter service and polling centers will open as scheduled for Election Day, November 3. Voters unable to vote because of evacuations, road closures, or other flood-related emergencies should contact the La Plata County Elections Office at 970-382-6296 or [email protected]. The Clerk's Office will work directly with affected residents to arrange voting options for those who have been displaced.
Bottled water is available inside the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building during regular business hours.
In partnership with Airbnb.org, 2-1-1 offers temporary emergency housing. To determine eligibility and access assistance, dial 2-1-1 or 866-760-6489 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or visit https://www.211colorado.org/disaster-response/.
Crisis Clean Up can connect residents with volunteers who may assist with flood cleanup, including removing debris, trees, and fences. Call 970-283-7325 to register.
Do not bring debris to the La Plata County Fairgrounds. Visit www.lpcgov.org/flood for updates as the local debris management plan is developed.
All La Plata County offices will open as scheduled tomorrow, except the Health Department walk-up counter at 185 Suttle Street, which will be closed Tuesday, November 3.
The following road closure list does not include every affected road. Sheriff's deputies and Road and Bridge supervisors continue to assess damage. Obey all signs and directions from on-site personnel. Before traveling, allow extra time, review maps to locate closures, and plan alternate routes. Please be patient as crews work around the clock to assess and repair extensive, catastrophic damage to La Plata County roads. This list, with pictures, is viewable at www.lpcgov.org/flood
