The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that bridge rehabilitation will be performed on Interstate I-84 at Exit 51 in Hartford. This project is scheduled to occur on Monday, March 23 and be completed on November 30, 2026. The project 0063-0731 consists of bridge deck repairs, parapet improvements, joint removal, substructure repairs and paving.

CTDOT Project No. 0063-0731 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Company, Inc. at a cost of $5,586,864.17 on December 2, 2025, and is scheduled to be completed November 30, 2026. This project is administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

The I-84 eastbound at Exit 51 Ramp to I-91 northbound will be closed to all traffic starting Monday, March 23, 2026 to May 29, 2026, from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. nightly, Monday through Friday. Traffic will be detoured. Stage construction is anticipated throughout the duration of the project, including shifting traffic for installation of temporary barrier along Exit 51.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
