Garden Grove, CA - U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) visited the Small Business Administration's (SBA) Mobile Business Recovery Vehicle in Garden Grove. Rep. Tran met with local officials and small business owners seeking relief following the GKN Aerospace hazmat incident.
"I'm grateful that the Small Business Administration (SBA) answered my call to issue a Disaster Declaration in response to the GKN Aerospace hazmat crisis in Garden Grove. Small business owners are the backbone of our local economy, and they deserve relief in the aftermath of this crisis. Mobile business recovery centers bring SBA resources and technical assistance directly to the business owners who need it most. I will always fight to ensure that our local businesses have the best opportunities to thrive," said Representative Tran.

The SBA Business Recovery Centers are temporary in-person facilities designed to provide face-to-face assistance for business owners applying for low-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans. These centers offer one-on-one assistance to explain the loan process, help owners fill out applications, and discuss recovery options.
On Thursday, May 21, the Orange County Fire Authority reported a leak of methyl methacrylate, a volatile and flammable chemical, from a 34,000-gallon storage tank at the GKN Aerospace plant in Garden Grove. The risk of a toxic leak or catastrophic explosion prompted over 50,000 evacuations across Garden Grove, Westminster, Buena Park, Cypress, Anaheim, and Stanton. On May 29, Representative Tran urged Administrator Kelly Loeffler to issue a disaster declaration and expedite small business loans. The Small Business Administration issued a disaster declaration on June 11, providing small businesses adversely affected by the crisis with access to low-interest federal disaster loans.
