On January 19 regular political consultations were held in Rome between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Italy, co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Edmondo Cirielli.
During the consultations, the parties touched upon the positive dynamics in the development of bilateral relations in recent years, highlighting the significant role of high-level contacts in promoting constructive political dialogue and further strengthening and expanding economic cooperation.
A wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda was discussed. The sides emphasized the importance of implementing joint steps in a number of areas, particularly aimed at increasing bilateral trade turnover, promoting investments, and developing cooperation in high technologies, tourism, education, culture, and other fields.
The interlocutors also discussed issues related to the Armenia-EU Strategic Partnership Agenda, as well as the preparatory work for the 8th Summit of the European Political Community and the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be held in Armenia in 2026.
Deputy Minister Vahan Kostanyan presented the developments in the South Caucasus after August 8, 2025. Among other issues, the Deputy Minister referred to the adoption of the Armenia-US implementation framework of the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) project, within the meeting held on January 13 of this year between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
