Developing a compact radar with high precision and low-cost using metamaterial technology

An Interview with Echodyne CEO, Eben Frankenberg

Japan is a growth market for Echodyne's suite of metamaterials electronically scanned array (MESA) radars, which support applications across Defense, Government, Advanced Air Mobility, Critical Infrastructure and beyond.

Recently, Echodyne CEO Eben Frankenberg sat down with Eriko Yamane, a reporter at one of Japan's leading technology publications TechBlitz, to discuss Echodyne's inception story and how the company's proprietary MESA technology differentiates the company's radars from others on the market.

The two also talked about how the applications of Echodyne radar are truly "infinite", with the team working on projects as vast and varied as tsunami and avalanche detection to traditional Counter-UAS applications and much more. This kind of experimentation is fueled by the fact that Echodyne radar is "small in size and weight and has extremely low power consumption and cost compared to conventional products".

"In the past year and a half, we have started focusing on our sales team in preparation for global expansion. Last year, sales in Europe increased significantly. In the future, we are looking to expand into Asia, Japan, Southeast Asia, etc.," said Frankenberg in his interview with Techblitz.
