Development cooperation: Italy will continue to plan and implement assistance programmes for the populations of Palestine and Cuba

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has specified that development cooperation programmes for the populations of countries such as Cuba and, above all, Palestine will not be interrupted and, in fact, will be intensified, particularly in the case of Palestine.

During a meeting of the Foreign Ministry-Regions Technical Committee held yesterday, the Director General of Cooperation said that two projects for Cuba and Palestine, presented by ANCI, should be redirected to individual regions, which are the bodies responsible for initiating those projects.

A regional representative misinterpreted the information provided during the meeting. In Cuba, 28 Italian cooperation projects for the population are currently underway, worth €44.5 million, while in Palestine 128 initiatives are underway, worth €298 million. Other cooperation projects are being studied.

Just last week, the government structure led by Ambassador Bruno Archi concluded a mission to Abu Dhabi and Riyadh (following similar missions to Egypt and Jordan) to assess how to restart health, humanitarian and administrative collaboration and cooperation missions for Gaza and the West Bank.
