Kansas City Invests $3 Million in Affordable Housing Through Housing Trust Fund

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and the City Council are investing nearly $3 million in Housing Trust Fund (HTF) awards to support affordable housing development across the city, continuing the City's commitment to expanding housing access for residents at all income levels.
Ordinance 260194 accepts recommendations from the Housing Trust Fund Advisory Board and authorizes $2,979,450 in funding across three projects, totaling 241 units:
  • Loma Vista Apartments (8706 Blue Ridge Boulevard) - $1,350,000
  • Linwood & Troost Apartments (3200 Troost Avenue) - $1,500,000
  • Prairie Style Flat Renovation, Phase I (1609 E. 55th Street) - $129,450
The Housing Trust Fund provides gap financing to developers building or preserving homes and apartments that are affordable to low- and moderate-income Kansas City residents.
"The Housing Trust Fund remains one of our most important tools for building and preserving affordable housing across Kansas City," said Mayor Lucas. "The latest investment of millions of dollars reflect our continued commitment to making sure every resident has access to a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home."
Applications for Round 6 of the Housing Trust Fund plan to open March 30 and close May 15. Organizations and developers interested in funding for affordable housing projects are encouraged to apply.
