WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement after the Biden Administration announced it is extending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for immigrants from El Salvador and Venezuela through 2026.
"I'm glad to see the Biden Administration has announced it is extending Temporary Protected Status for immigrants from El Salvador and Venezuela, who have been living in our communities and contributing to our economy in Nevada every day," said Senator Rosen. "As immigrant communities are increasingly under attack by the incoming Administration, it's critical that President Biden continues to take all steps possible to speed up TPS extensions and DACA renewals before leaving office. I'll keep working to make sure Nevada's immigrant community is protected."
Senator Rosen has been outspoken in her strong support for TPS recipients, DACA recipients, and their families. Last Congress, Rosen called on the Biden Administration to continue to protect displaced Salvadorans and Hondurans by redesignating El Salvador and Honduras for Temporary Protected Status. In a committee hearing last year, she raised concerns over the significant application delays impacting DACA recipients. Senator Rosen also gave a floor speech last Congress urging her Senate colleagues to take immediate action to permanently protect Dreamers while simultaneously continuing to work to pass comprehensive immigration reform that provides a pathway to citizenship.
