Our crews continue to prioritize downed-wire safety first - if you see a downed wire STAY AWAY and DIAL 911.

"DO NOT DRINK" NOTICE IN EFFECT FOR ZIP CODE 90272 and ADJACENT AREA

A Do Not Drink Notice was issued Friday at noon for Pacific Palisades 90272 zip code and the area north of San Vicente Blvd under evacuation orders. People located in the 90272 Zip code and the area north of San Vicente Boulevard should not drink or cook with the tap water until the notice is lifted. We will inform our customers when the water is safe to drink.

Residents are advised to limit the use of hot water and follow important instructions in the notice. This notice is due to the potential of fire-related contaminants that may have entered the water system and replaces the Boil Water Notices issued on Wednesday.

The update is required by State Drinking Water regulators and is being made to protect public health. LADWP will be distributing bottled water to affected customers at two locations:

-Westwood Recreation Center

-Adjacent to the Brentwood Country Club

More information about the DO NOT DRINK notice and important instructions can be found at www.ladwp.com.

ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND ON DO-NOT-DRINK NOTICE

LADWP is issuing this notice because there is a chance that fire-related contaminants may have entered the water system, including benzene and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs can vaporize and become airborne.

Residents are advised to:

  • Limit the use of hot water
  • Limit shower time/bathing, and do not take hot baths (use lukewarm water and ventilate the area)
  • If using a dishwasher to wash dishes use the air-dry setting
  • Wash clothing in cold water
  • If the clothes dryer does not vent outside, avoid using it (dry laundry outdoors)
  • Do not use hot tubs or swimming pools
  • Use proper ventilation when using hot water indoors
