On January 14th, 2025 at 7:40 a.m., Spokane Police Officers responded to a commercial building in the area of 1000 North Freya Street on a report of a burglary. Employees at the location encountered an unknown male on the property prowling a vehicle. The suspect male fled on foot, leaving behind a red pickup truck. Employees then discovered that the male had entered the secure area by cutting a fence and a lock.

Employees were able to take a photo of the suspect on the property before he ran and provided that to responding officers. The red truck left behind by the suspect was found to be reported stolen from a different location. Items in the bed of the truck were also found to have been stolen from another business located nearby.

As officers were searching the area, they were contacted by a witness stating a male thought to be the involved subject was seen on foot going north near Boone and Havana. An alert patrol officer observed a vehicle stop in the area of 4300 East Trent and a male matching the suspect description get in the back seat. As officers stopped the vehicle to question that person, he was observed possibly hiding something under the front seat. The male was detained and a loaded firearm was located where he was sitting. At the conclusion of the investigation, Jordan C. Kerr (37) was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on the following charges:

  • 1st Degree Burglary
  • Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
  • 1st Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • 3rd Degree Malicious Mischief
  • 3rd Degree Theft from a Building

The quick response by officers and the assistance of the employees at the business helped facilitate a positive outcome.
