$40,000 goal to receive a matching grant through IHCDA's CreatINg Places initiative
LEAVENWORTH, Ind. (Jan. 15, 2025)- Leavenworth residents will soon transform a bare space into a beautiful and welcoming park if this crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $40,000 by March 16, 2025. If successful, the project led by the Breeden Library Foundation, Inc. will receive a matching grant as part of IHCDA's CreatINg Places program.
"The addition of this park to Leavenworth will increase access to recreation, promote healthy lifestyles and improve the overall quality of life in the community," said Jake Sipe, IHCDA Executive Director. "This project will bring immediate positive change to the area and make a lasting impact for years to come."
Funds from this campaign will be used to create an outdoor community space in the heart of Leavenworth by adding several playgrounds, a walking and biking path, shelter houses and a gazebo that will double as a bandstand.
"Our goal is not only to give residents a place to relax, play and gather, but to entice tourists on the Ohio Scene Byway to stop and visit our lovely little town," said Tina Brison, director of the Breeden Library Foundation.
Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $12 million in public funds and an additional $10 million in matching IHCDA funds. The program is available to projects located in Indiana communities. Non-profit entities (with 501c3 or 501c4 status) and local units of government are eligible to apply. Eligible projects must have a minimum total development cost of $10,000, where the recipient will receive $5,000 in IHCDA matching funds should it successfully raise $5,000 through Patronicity. IHCDA will provide matching grant funds up to $50,000 per project.
