NEWTourism activity of travel and tour operator agencies in January-June 2026

The National Bureau of Statistics informs that in January-June 2026, the number of visitors (tourists and excursionists), participants in tourism organized by travel agencies and tour operators totalled 230.1 thousand people (an increase of 0.8% compared to January-June 2025), of which:

• outbound tourism (visits by residents of the country outside its borders) - 141.7 thousand people -3.2%);

• inbound tourism (visits to the Republic of Moldova by non-resident visitors) - 38.6 thousand people (+4.2%);

• domestic tourism (visits within the country by resident visitors) - 49.8 thousand people (+11.1%).

During the analysed period, outbound tourism accounted for the largest share - 61.6% of total tourism activities, while domestic and inbound tourism accounted for 21.6% and 16.8%, respectively.

In January-June 2026, the revenues of travel agencies and tour operators amounted to 1897.1 million MDL, up 9.3% compared to January-June 2025. Revenues from outbound tourism totalled 1756.0 million MDL (+8.9%), domestic tourism 97.2 million MDL (+11.3%) and inbound tourism 43.9 million MDL (+25.4%).
