Foreign Ministry Prioritizes Quality and Efficient Services, says Secretary De la Fuente
  • Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente inaugurated the new Passport Office in Jiutepec, Morelos, accompanied by Governor Margarita González Saravia
  • The Fourth Transformation government is delivering effective, honest service throughout Mexico, treating citizens with the respect and attention they deserve
  • The new office will issue 150,000 passports starting this year

During the inauguration of the new Passport Office in Jiutepec, Morelos, Secretary Juan Ramón de la Fuente emphasized that this facility fulfills President Claudia Sheinbaum's directive to provide exceptional services marked by quality, efficiency, and humanity, both domestically and internationally.

Governor Margarita González Saravia joined Secretary De la Fuente as he explained that the Fourth Transformation government is committed to serving citizens effectively and honestly throughout Mexico, focusing on meeting people's needs with dignity and respect.

He noted that the Foreign Ministry continues to enhance its responsiveness to citizens' needs by incorporating the humanistic approach directed by President Sheinbaum in all services offered.

The Secretary pointed to the ministry's administrative simplification agreement published last February, which reduced passport requirements from six to three, making the process significantly easier and more straightforward for applicants.

Mexican consulates in the United States use the same operational model as domestic offices. The Foreign Secretary highlighted that Mexican passports rank among the world's most secure documents with 50 security measures, polycarbonate booklets, and integrated chips storing biographical data, biometrics, photographs, and registration codes-making them virtually impossible to counterfeit.

The ministry issues 4 million of these highly secure passports annually.

This new office, the country's 45th passport office, will issue 150,000 passports in its first year of operation.

Governor Margarita González Saravia welcomed the new office, which will provide residents of "The land that unites us" with reliable access to passports. In addition, the families of the approximately 250,000 Morelos natives living in the U.S.-primarily in Minneapolis, Chicago, and California-will also benefit from this service.

"This streamlined process brings services closer to our fellow citizens, repatriated individuals, and senior citizens-with whom we promote family reunification in Morelos-as well as second-generation families who can now travel more frequently to the United States," said the governor.

New Office

The Passport Office is located at SA-06 of the "Plaza Cedros CIVAC" Shopping Center, at Av. Eje Norte, Sur 2, CIVAC, in Jiutepec, Morelos. It operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with capacity for 550 appointments daily, serving up to 150,000 people annually.

The office features comfortable waiting areas for applicants. Amenities include a nursing room and children's play area. The office is fully accessible for people with disabilities and senior citizens.

Additionally, screens throughout the office display important information about passport procedures and Ministry of Foreign Affairs programs and services. A comprehensive video surveillance system maintains the safety of visitors and staff while protecting the integrity of all operations.

Passport appointment scheduling is available online at https://citas.sre.gob.mx, which is the only authorized electronic site for this purpose and is completely free.

Appointments can also be made through the Contact Center at (55) 8932 4827, available from Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, as well as through WhatsApp at the same number.

The Ministry reiterates the importance of avoiding scams by not making payments or deposits to personal accounts or at convenience stores to obtain a passport appointment.
