Rosen Visits Reno Food Pantry to Discuss Washington Republicans’ SNAP Cuts, Skyrocketing Food Costs

RENO, NV - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) visited St. Vincent's Food Pantry in Reno where she met with the leaders of Catholic Charities and Northern Nevada Food Bank. They discussed how the SNAP funding cuts that Washington Republicans made in the "One Bill Beautiful Bill" are hurting Nevadans, while at the same time Donald Trump's reckless tariffs are making groceries more expensive.

"It has been six months since Donald Trump and Washington Republicans enacted their 'One Big Beautiful Bill,' which contained devastating cuts to SNAP and Medicaid in order to pay for more tax breaks for billionaires," said Senator Rosen. "With Trump's tariffs driving up grocery costs, hardworking families' budgets are being squeezed tight - making it difficult to put food on the table and forcing some families to rely on food assistance programs. I'll keep fighting to reverse Republicans' devastating cuts to SNAP and lower grocery costs for all Nevadans."

Senator Rosen has helped lead the fight to push back against Trump's reckless tariffs, which are raising food prices. Senate Republicans recently blocked an attempt to pass her bill to bring down grocery prices for hardworking Americans. Senator Rosen's No Tariffs on Groceries Act would exempt food and agricultural products from Trump's cost-raising tariffs. A new report released by the U.S. Congress's Joint Economic Committee (JEC) shows that, in Donlad Trump's first year back in the White House, the average Nevada household spent an additional $1,565.
