The City of Fairfield and Fairfield Municipal Utility (FMU) invite community members to attend an upcoming in-person open house or a virtual webinar to learn more about the proposed water rate adjustments and critical investments planned for the City's water system moving forward.
To ensure continued delivery of safe, reliable water service and address aging infrastructure, the City is proposing rate adjustments based on findings from the 2025 Water Rate Study, conducted by independent consulting firm, Bartle Wells Associates. If approved, the proposal would increase rates for customers by approximately 8 percent annually over the next five years - equating to an estimated $5 to $7 more per month for the average single-family residence.

The recommended changes align with the Public Utility Master Plan (PUMP), adopted by City Council in June 2025, which is a 20-year roadmap for strategic, systemwide improvements that are necessary.
FMU is hosting two informational events (one in person and one virtually) to share information about these upcoming rate adjustments and answer questions from participants:

Virtual Webinar (via Zoom)
