Long Beach, CA -The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine's Homeland Cultural Center presents DanceFest, a showcase of cultural class offerings all on one stage, taking place Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cesar E. Chavez Park Amphitheater (401 Golden Ave.)

"DanceFest brings people together to enjoy a beautiful summer evening and honor the cultural traditions of our diverse community," said Mayor Rex Richardson. "Art, music and dance are part of the cultural heartbeat of Long Beach, and we encourage residents to join us as we celebrate these talented performers. This event is one of many free family-friendly activities we offer throughout the summer."

During DanceFest, attendees will enjoy performances by community groups from the Homeland Cultural Center, including Popping & Locking, Breakdance, drumming, poetry, Aztec dance, Khmer martial arts and dance, West African dance, Hmong arts and Micronesian arts. Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnic dinners to enjoy while they watch.

The Homeland Cultural Center hosts a variety of classes and is a place for people of all ages to explore and pass on traditional and contemporary cultural traditions. Free programs are offered year-round in urban and traditional arts, including dance, music, art and movies. The center is also the site for poetry readings, theatre presentations, performances of dance and music, and cultural celebrations. Visit the Homeland Cultural Center webpage for more information.

DanceFest aligns with the City's Summer of Opportunity initiative, a collective impact approach focused on fostering positive development among Long Beach youth while simultaneously addressing youth violence. Highlights of Summer of Opportunity activations and the City's summer activities calendar are available on the City's Summer of Opportunity webpage.
