Statement From New York State Department Of Transportation Region 8 Director Julianne Fuda

On Thursday afternoon, a New York State Department of Transportation contractor working to repair a deteriorated drainage pipe along Interstate 684 in the Town of Lewisboro, Westchester County, observed a depression forming in the highway. In the interest of public safety, the affected lanes of the highway were immediately shut down and emergency services were notified. NYSDOT crews are currently on site and are working to assess the situation and re-open the lanes as quickly and safely as possible. In the meantime, Interstate 684 will be reduced to one lane northbound and two lanes southbound between Exit 6 (State Route 35) in the Town of Bedford and Exit 7 (State Route 116) in the Town of North Salem until further notice. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes if possible. NYSDOT will keep the public informed of further developments.
