FEMA in Tempe

How the Process Works

In an effort to secure federal Individual Assistance-direct financial aid for eligible homeowners and renters-the State of Arizona has requested the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) conduct a Preliminary Damage Assessment for Maricopa County and Gila County impacted by Post Tropical Storm Event from Oct. 10-13, 2025.

Representatives from FEMA and SBA will review the findings of the state's assessment. The review process may take several months before results are available.

No state or federal funding has been approved at this time and declaring a disaster at the local or state level does not automatically bring financial assistance. The federal process determines whether Tempe and Maricopa County meet the threshold for Individual Assistance-a decision that will come after FEMA's review is complete.

In the meantime, Tempe and its community partners continue to assist residents through local programs, nonprofits and volunteer efforts.
