(Chillicothe, OH) - The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) and the Paint Valley Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health (ADAMH) Board invite community members to Hope in Ohio: Community Conversation on Mental Health and Stigma on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at Adena PACCAR Medical Education Center in Chillicothe.

This free event will feature a panel discussion on the impact of stigma in the Paint Valley ADAMH Board region and a "fireside chat" that explores community perspectives on resilience and help seeking. Attendees will also receive information on local mental health resources and ongoing stigma reduction efforts. In addition, there will be opportunities for residents to share their feedback through an online survey that will help shape future priorities.
"The Paint Valley ADAMH Board is so excited to partner with Ohio Department of Behavioral Health for this event. Our community deserves the best in behavioral health care. Feedback from this event will help us in assessing gaps and improving access to care, "said Melanie Swisher, Paint Valley ADAMH Board Executive Director.
"Every Ohioan can play a role in reducing stigma in our communities simply by talking openly about mental health," said DBH Interim Director Tia Marcel Moretti. "Each time we remind someone that they are not alone, and that support is available, we help break down barriers, raise awareness, and spread hope. Together, we can build healthier, more connected communities."
Residents of Fayette, Highland, Pickaway, Pike, and Ross counties are encouraged to join this important conversation to help shape the future of behavioral health in their communities.
