U.S. Senator Katie Britt Applauds Judiciary Committee’s Advancement of Alabama’s U.S. District Court Judicial Nominees

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) today attended a Senate Judiciary Committee executive business meeting where the committee voted to advance several of President Donald Trump's nominees for federal judgeships, including three nominees for judicial vacancies in Alabama. All three nominees, Edmund "Eddie" LaCour, Bill Lewis, and Harold "Hal" Mooty, were reported favorably out of committee. They now await a confirmation vote by the full Senate.

Senator Britt, who joined Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) in recommending the nominees for federal judgeships in Alabama to President Trump, today spoke in support of the nominees before the committee:

"Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I wanted to briefly talk about the three nominees to fill the vacancies in Alabama. Senator Tuberville and I were pleased to [nominate] Hal Mooty, Alabama Supreme Court Justice Bill Lewis, and Alabama Solicitor General Eddie LaCour to President Trump to fill these vacancies. And we are grateful to President Trump for putting forward such outstanding nominees for the federal bench in our state. I have the utmost confidence in their experience, their qualifications, their legal acumen, their integrity, and their commitment to faithfully interpret and apply the Constitution and the laws that Congress has passed. I believe they will serve our country and our state and its citizens [well] on the federal bench, and I urge my colleagues to support their nominations. Thank you, Mr. Chairman."
