China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland Ambassador Jia Guide Meets with Mrs. Tressa Rae[...]

On February 5, 2026, Ambassador Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, met with Mrs. Tressa Rae Finerty, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of the United States of America to UNOG.

Ambassador Jia said that, President Xi Jinping and President Donald J. Trump had a successful meeting in Busan last October, and spoke on the phone yesterday, charting the direction and course for China-U.S. relations. Geneva is an important platform for multilateral diplomacy. We are willing to work together with the U.S. in the same direction, uphold the spirit of equality, respect and mutual benefit, and put into practice the important consensus reached by the two heads of state through concrete actions.

Chargé d'affaires a.i. Finerty welcomed Ambassador Jia on his assumption of office, and expressed the U.S.' readiness to engage in candid communication and expand collaboration with China at the Geneva platform, under the guidance of the consensus reached by the two heads of state, and facilitate more progress in bilateral ties.
