York Hospital Art Committee Seeks Proposals for 2027 Café Art Gallery

The Art Committee of York Hospital is soliciting proposals for artwork to be displayed in the Café at York Hospital in 2027. Each artist's work will be on view for three months, and the first exhibition will open in early January. Installations typically include 15 to 20 works of art; the final number will depend on the size of the pieces and the gallery's current hanging system.

The Art Committee strives to select inspirational, positive imagery in various two-dimensional media (oils, watercolors, photography, printmaking, mixed media, etc.) and styles (i.e., still lifes, landscapes or seascapes, portraits, and realistic or abstract works).

Interested artists should submit the following via email for jury consideration: a biography or combined biography/artist's statement (maximum 500 words) and a digital portfolio consisting of four to six representative pieces (JPEGS, each 1 to 2 MB in size). Artists must indicate at least one portfolio piece to be included in their installation if chosen. That image will be used to promote the exhibition on York Hospital's social media platforms and website gallery page.

Submitting artists are encouraged to also include a link to their own website or online gallery for viewing by the Art Committee.

The York Hospital Art Committee will review submissions in late October and notify the artists of their decision in November, at which time a signed exhibit acceptance letter will be required. Artists may include pieces that are for sale; a portion of the proceeds from each art sale will be donated to York Hospital. Please note: if a checklist with the name of each work in an artist's exhibition, as well as date created, medium, dimensions, and price (if for sale) is provided via email two weeks before the exhibition start date, that information will be included on the York Hospital website gallery page.

After an artist's artwork has been selected for exhibition at York Hospital, artists are encouraged to wait three years before applying again to give other local artists the same opportunity.
