Undersecretary Tripodi in Washington for the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Anti-Daesh Coalition

Upon instruction of Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Maria Tripodi will represent Italy at the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Anti-Daesh Coalition scheduled in Washingtom on 30 September.

While reaffirming Italy's commitment to supporting the Coalition and helping to define its goals for the second decade, the Undersecretary will recall the priority given by the Italian government to relations with Africa, including the security and counter-terrorism sectors. This is a particularly significant event, taking place on the 10th anniversary of the Coalition established in 2014, at the initiative of the United States, which today brings together 86 countries from the different continents.

Italy, a Member State since its establishment, is among the most active partners in the Coalition. In fact, it has ensured, and still ensures, the presence of a significant contingent, in the framework of Operation "Inherent Resolve" in Iraq to combat terrorism. Italy takes part in all the working groups - co-chairing the one on Counter-Financing and the Africa Focus Group on Africa - and repeatedly hosted high-level meetings of the Coalition, starting with the Ministerial Meeting in June 2021.
