Avista cancels Public Safety Power Shutoff warning in Indian Trail

Areas of northwest Spokane's Indian Trail are no longer at risk of a power outage

SPOKANE, Wash., July 25, 2026 - Due to a change in weather causing a decrease in high-fire-risk conditions in northwest Spokane's Indian Trail area, customers are no longer at risk of a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). While conditions have improved, wildfire risk remains high, and Avista will continue operating its system at higher sensitivity settings to reduce the risk of wildfire.

Customers who received a previous notification about a potential PSPS in the Indian Trail area are no longer at risk of a PSPS. We understand preparing for the possibility of an outage can be disruptive and we appreciate customers taking steps to be ready.

Weather conditions can continue to change, and Public Safety Power Shutoffs may be needed in the future if wildfire risk becomes extreme. Avista will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as more information becomes available.

While weather conditions have improved in Indian Trail, Avista is now evaluating the Kamiah area for a potential Public Safety Power Shutoff, and the Asotin area remains under consideration. Customers in potentially affected areas are receiving direct communication from Avista and should continue preparing for the possibility of an outage later today.
