The Johnson County Election Office announces that the post-election audit for the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election has been rescheduled to begin on Monday, Nov. 9, 2026.
On Wednesday, Nov. 4, Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab announced that six races statewide had triggered additional close-race audits under K.S.A. 25-3009.
Under Kansas law, a close-race audit is required when unofficial election night results show a margin of 1% or less of the total votes cast. These audits require a manual hand count of ballots in an additional 10% of precincts for the affected races.
Five of the six races require additional auditing in Johnson County: Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Kansas House District 27, and Kansas House District 117.
Due to the expanded scope of the required audits, the Johnson County Election Office has rescheduled its post-election audit to Monday, Nov. 9.
Updated Audit Information:
The audit is open to the public for observation.
