Organized in partnership with the Cameroon Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (FECACLUBS-UNESCO) and the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) of the National Commission for UNESCO in Cameroon, the event was held under the theme proposed by UNESCO for the year: "The Power of Youth in the Co-Creation of Education."
The celebration brought together more than 60 young members of UNESCO Clubs and Associations (College Henri Vietter, etc.) and UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) in Yaoundé, as part of a broader national mobilization involving hundreds of young people across several regions of Cameroon. The initiative aligned with UNESCO's global call to recognize youth not only as beneficiaries of education systems but as active co-creators of the learning environments they aspire to shape.
The day began with opening remarks from representatives of FECACLUBS-UNESCO, the National Commission for UNESCO, and the UNESCO Regional Office for Central Africa, reaffirming the crucial role of education in peacebuilding, sustainable development, and social inclusion. Participants then joined a global webinar which connected young people and students with decision-makers at UNESCO Headquarters, reinforcing intergenerational dialogue and youth participation in education policy discussions.
