The University of New Mexico has released the leadership profile that will guide the national search for the university's next provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.
The profile outlines the opportunities, priorities and qualifications sought in UNM's next chief academic officer and will serve as the foundation for recruiting candidates from across the country. The provost leads the university's academic enterprise and works closely with faculty, deans and campus leadership to advance UNM's mission of education, research and service.
The search is being led by a campus search advisory committee chaired by Katie Witkiewitz, distinguished professor of Psychology and director of the Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, and Addictions. The committee is working with executive search firm Isaacson, Miller to recruit and evaluate candidates through a nationwide search process.
The leadership profile reflects input gathered from members of the UNM community and highlights the university's strengths as New Mexico's flagship research university, as well as the opportunities and challenges facing higher education today.
As UNM's chief academic officer, the provost oversees the university's academic programs and works collaboratively with campus leadership to strengthen student success, research, faculty excellence and academic innovation across UNM's schools and colleges.
Information about the search process, committee membership, position profile and timeline is available on the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Search website, where updates will be posted throughout the search.
The search advisory committee will review applications and nominations in the coming weeks before recommending finalists for campus engagement and consideration.
Confidential applications, inquiries and nominations should be submitted through Isaacson, Miller.
