Volunteer Appreciation Month

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Volunteer Appreciation Month

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia is strengthened by the countless individuals who give generously of their time, talents, and compassion to improve the lives of their neighbors and uplift their communities; and

WHEREAS, volunteers serve in schools, hospitals, food banks, places of worship, community centers, environmental programs, and countless nonprofit and civic organizations, providing essential support that enhances the well-being of individuals and families across the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, volunteers embody the spirit of civic responsibility and community partnership, demonstrating leadership, empathy, and a commitment to the common good that inspires others to serve; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer Appreciation Month provides an opportunity to honor the individuals and organizations whose dedication to service enriches our communities and to encourage all Virginians to engage in volunteer efforts throughout the year;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, do hereby recognize April 2026, as VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens, encouraging them to recognize, celebrate, and participate in volunteer service that strengthens our communities and advances the well-being of all Virginians.
