Art Opening Night: “A Celebration of Contrasts” at the Falkirk Cultural Center

The opening of A Celebration of Contrastsbrought together a wide range of artistic voices from across the San Francisco Bay Area. The galleries were buzzing with excitement as visitors interacted with artists and viewed this exhilarating show.

Juried by ceramic artist Susan Press, who curates many exhibitions throughout the region, the show reflects thoughtful selection and an appreciation for diversity in both concept and medium.

From more than 120 entries, Press selected work by 84 artists, resulting in over 100 pieces on display. The exhibition includes painting, textile, sculpture, and mixed media, offering visitors a varied and engaging viewing experience. The works differ in style and approach, yet share a sense of curiosity and experimentation that ties the show together.

Awards were selected by ceramic artist Richard Shaw, who described the exhibition as "very inspiring and interesting," noting the range of ideas and inventive methods represented throughout the gallery.

The exhibit will be open Tuesday through Friday from 1:00-4:30pmand Saturdays from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Falkirk Cultural Center, and will run through February 21st. Visitors are encouraged to call (415) 485-3328before arriving, as the gallery may occasionally be closed for private rentals.
