KidSport helping almost 30,000 kids stay active this year

• KidSport program provides $10 million to WA families since 1 July 2024
• Initiative has supported nearly 30,000 kids to participate in community sport this year
• Program makes sport more accessible and affordable for eligible WA families
• Part of WA Labor Government's effort to encourage and boost participation in grassroots sport

KidSport has hit $10 million in under a year, helping almost 30,000 children throughout Western Australia take part in community sport.

The WA Government program supports eligible children from low-income families to help cover the costs of registration fees, essential uniforms and playing equipment.

Nearly 2,000 sporting clubs take part in the program, with basketball proving the most popular sport in the past year, closely followed by AFL, swimming, football and netball.

Since its inception in 2011, more than 360,000 KidSport vouchers have been provided to about 130,000 children, totalling over $60 million.
