Maryland General Assembly Holds Special Session

The Maryland General Assembly convened in Annapolis on Monday for what is expected to be a three-day special session.

During the session, lawmakers are considering legislation related to the state's congressional redistricting process. Today, the House of Delegates passed a bill that would give Maryland voters the opportunity to amend the state constitution and clarify the criteria used when drawing congressional district boundaries. Following its passage in the House, the measure now moves to the Senate for consideration. If the legislation is approved the initiative will appear on the November ballot.
