SILOAM SPRINGS, AR (October 17, 2023) - Today, Simmons Foods announced it will provide a $10,000 donation to support the McDonald County School District food pantry. Additionally, Simmons will donate 1,700 pounds of chicken to the food bank.
Schools across the McDonald County School District have established a network of food pantries, ensuring that students can readily access nutritious meals whenever the need arises. Additionally, several of the schools go the extra mile by preparing weekend meal packages, ensuring that students' nutritional needs are met even outside of school hours.
"We are truly grateful for the generous donation from Simmons Foods. This $10,000 contribution is not just a monetary gift; it's a gift of hope and compassion that will have a tremendous impact on the lives of our students," Dr. Eric Findley, Superintendent, McDonald County Schools, said. "With this donation, we are better equipped to ensure no child in McDonald County Schools goes hungry."
Nick Braschler, Director of Chaplain Services & Community Giving for Simmons Foods, said "Simmons Giving is focused on three key areas: family, education, and community. We want to promote strong and healthy families, which means ensuring students have food beyond the two meals they receive at school, meals they often rely on."
