On Tuesday, April 1, Suzy McCullough was recognized and honored in front of her family, our Commission, and Middle Georgia Regional Libraries team for her work and dedication to Macon-Bibb County. Mayor Lester Miller declared March 28, 2025, as Suzy McCullough Day in Macon-Bibb.
McCullough, Branch Manager of the Riverside Public Library, has served libraries in Macon-Bibb County for 46 years, beginning in July of 1979, including her roles as former Children's Librarian for six years and Branch Manager at the Shurling Public Library for twenty-four years. She was also a second-grade teacher for eleven years at five different elementary schools in Macon-Bibb, including former Henry A. Hunt Elementary School on Shurling Drive. She was also our County Manager Dr. Keith Moffett's second-grade teacher.
McCullough exemplifies Middle Georgia Regional Library's core value as highly skilled library personnel, having received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Education from Mercer University in 1968, her degree of Master of Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Georgia College in 1978, and a Master of Librarianship degree from Emory University in 1983, along with attending a course in Advanced Children's Literature at the University of Georgia.
