Apple Valley Town Council Votes to Keep Animal Shelter Under Local Control

Apple Valley, CA - July 23, 2025 - At its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 22, the Apple Valley Town Council voted unanimously to maintain local control of the Apple Valley Animal Shelter, choosing not to move forward with a proposed sale to San Bernardino County.

Town officials ultimately determined that continuing to operate the shelter locally best aligns with the community's values and commitment to animal welfare. By retaining local control, the Town will preserve its unique sheltering approach, programs, and partnerships that have been tailored to meet the needs of Apple Valley residents and their pets.

"We're grateful to our residents for engaging in this process and making their voices heard," said Mayor Scott Nassif. "The Apple Valley Animal Shelter is more than a facility-it's a community resource, and we're committed to keeping it that way."
