Rep. Roy Holds Hearing Highlighting How Plyler v. Doe Decision Harms America’s Schools and Students

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) held a House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government hearing titled, "Immigration Policy by Court Order: The Adverse Effects of Plyer v. Doe," to examine why Plyler v. Doe, the 1982 Supreme Court decision requiring states to provide illegal aliens a free K-12 education, was wrongly decided and how it harms America's schools, students, and taxpayers.

Witnesses included: Matt O'Brien, Deputy Executive Director, Federation for Immigration Reform; Mandy Drogin, Senior Fellow, Government Reform & Oversight Coalition, Texas Public Policy Foundation; James Rogers, Senior Counselor, America First Legal Foundation; and Thomas A. Saenz, President & General Counsel, Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund.
