Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members gathered in Vancouver from April 28 to May 2 to compete in the 2026 Pollock Clinics Men's Health Canadian Senior Squash Championships.
Ten CAF athletes from locations including Greenwood, Montreal, Bagotville, Winnipeg, Trenton, Ottawa, Esquimalt, and Colorado Springs took part in the national-level competition. The championship welcomed 615 athletes from across Canada, creating a highly competitive environment.
CAF athletes competed across multiple divisions, including A, B, and C levels, as well as the 45+ category. Throughout the tournament, participants demonstrated professionalism, resilience, and strong sportsmanship while representing both the CAF and Canada.
Beyond competition, the event strengthened connections among members. Participants supported one another throughout matches, reinforcing teamwork and camaraderie.
"I felt a level of comradeship I haven't experienced in years; everyone competed to the best of their ability and should be proud," said Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Tim King.
Squash demands quick decision-making, agility, and the ability to perform under pressure-skills that align closely with military training and operational effectiveness.
"I've enjoyed reconnecting with colleagues and meeting new teammates, it's great to see squash in the CAF continuing to grow," said Major Greg Myers.
Athletes also highlighted the value of exposure to high-level competition.
"Playing against some of the best athletes in the country was motivating, I hope to see more women get involved in the sport," said Captain Taylor Kosciukiewicz.
Off the court, members participated in social events, a Hall of Fame ceremony, and a closing banquet, helping build connections within the Canadian squash community.
Participation in national competitions supports physical fitness and mental well-being, both critical to operational readiness. It also strengthens relationships across units and regions.
CAF members interested in squash are encouraged to connect with local clubs and join the CAF squash community to support future participation in competitions.
