Henderson City Council Adopts Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget

HENDERSON, Nev. (May 21, 2026) - The Henderson City Council adopted the City's Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget during a public hearing held at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 19.

The approved budget includes a $422.5 million General Fund that supports the City's strategic priorities: Community Safety; a Healthy, Livable and Sustainable City; Economic Vitality; High-Performing Public Service; and Quality Education.

As one of the City's highest strategic priorities and a top concern among Henderson residents, public safety accounts for 60% of the General Fund allocation.

The Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget also advances several key City initiatives, including:

  • Expansion of the Police Cadet Program to six full-time cadets to strengthen the recruitment pipeline and reduce long-term hiring and training costs
  • Funding for 14 new patrol officer positions and one jail administrator position
  • Enhancing coverage provided by the Crisis Response Team
  • Opening Cadence Sports Park, a 100-acre, developer-funded community park

The budget also reflects the City's commitment to fiscal responsibility and efficient service delivery by maintaining one of the lowest property tax rates among major Nevada cities at $0.7708 per $100 of assessed value, supporting long-term fiscal stability through strong reserves, and sustaining premier public services with one of the lowest employee-to-citizen ratios in the Las Vegas Valley.
