Indonesia's Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) has secured multiple awards at the ABU Prizes 2025. RRI, Purwokerto claimed the Radio News Reporting category with "Water Ambulance: A Glimpse Into The Battle Kampung Laut Been Through," defeating competition from ABC - Australia, China Media Group - China, and Islamic Republic of Iran - IRIB. The award-winning report chronicles the struggles of Kampung Laut residents who depend on water ambulances for healthcare access in remote waterway communities.
RRI Malang received a Special Commendation for "Never Ending Hugs: A Journey of Supporting Autistic Children," showcasing experiences of families living with autism whilst highlighting community inclusion efforts. The broadcaster's success extended further with two additional RRI roductions earning finalist status: "The Last of Gupung" in Radio Drama and "The Death of a Sumatran Elephant" in Radio News Reporting. Judges recognised the exceptional journalistic quality and compelling narratives that bring attention to challenges faced by isolated communities.
