The City of Hoboken today announced a community lottery offering local youth the opportunity to attend the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 match between Norway and Senegal on Monday, June 22, at 8 p.m. at NYNJ Stadium (MetLife).
A special ticket allocation has been made available through a collaboration between the Governor's Office, the New York New Jersey Host Committee, Uber, and Choose New Jersey. The Hoboken Recreation Division has been allotted a total of eight tickets from NJ Youth Soccer for this opportunity. The tickets will be issued as four pairs, each including one child and one guardian, in order to expand access and give more families the opportunity to attend.
"Kids in Hoboken will now have the chance to experience a global sporting event right in our own backyard," said Mayor Emily B. Jabbour. "This is what community is all about, creating access and making sure our youngest residents feel connected to the excitement and celebration surrounding the FIFA World Cup. I am grateful to Governor Sherrill, the NYNJ Host Committee, Uber, Choose New Jersey, New Jersey Youth Soccer, and the Division of Recreation for bringing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to our kids."
"We are incredibly proud to create opportunities that allow children to grow both on and off the pitch," said Head of Recreation Jessica Lezcano. "Experiences like the FIFA World Cup have the power to inspire young people to dream big, stay active, and feel connected to something larger than themselves".
Registration for the lottery is available through RecDesk to all Hoboken youth up to 16 years old. Register online at https://hoboken.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail?programId=1197. Registration is limited to one entry per child.
As part of the lottery registration process, applicants will need to complete the registration and upload a photo of themselves practicing, playing, watching, or learning about soccer.
Registration will close on Thursday, June 18, at 5 p.m. At that time, entries will be randomized to select the youth winners.
Mayor Jabbour will announce the winners during the Big Match Block Party on Juneteenth, Friday, June 19, at 5:30 p.m. between 14th and 15th Streets on Grand Street.
Big Match Block Parties, organized through a partnership between the City's Division of Cultural Affairs and Hoboken Business Alliance, are a rotating series of block parties that bring the excitement of the World Cup to Hoboken neighborhoods. The events include large screen live match viewing, interactive games and family-friendly programming, outdoor dining and beverage service, and local restaurant and retail sales.
